The Brass guard is then silver soldered. If you have never used horsehide, give it a try. It provides superior grip in dry conditions, and then when it gets wet, it provides even better grip. It has amazing properties and is incredibly resilient. That, paired with O1 Tool Steel and you can't go wrong.
